I really promise that I would read each and every post I have missed..
I am so touched with all ur emails and messages that I have been receiving through these days and it intrigued me to stay underground for a while more.. who doesn't like pampering :) Thank you so much all for being very loving and considerate.. It made me feel really special.. :)
I am posting this recipe on absolute lite and guilt free note.. mm..hmm.. U can enjoy this all time favorite snack with no conscious.. absolutely :) I did try making this couple of days back and was so thrilled with the results..
It tasted no different than any traditional deep fried "paruppu vadai" or should I say it tasted better or maybe healthier.. :) I know I am boasting so much on this recipe and I am very well aware that it is not a new invention by me.. but..but.. fortunately, I do possess the pride of baking them just right.. :) well.. enough said here..
Ingredient
Channa Dhal - 250gms
Onion - 2 no. [medium]
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
Green chillies - 1 no.
Red Chillies - 5 no.
Coriander Leaves - 3 tbsp [chopped]
Salt - as required
Cooking Spray
Preparation
- Soak dhal for 1/2 an hour... Meanwhile, u can do the chopping part..
- Chop onions finely.. crush dried red chillies.. finely chop green chilli..
- In a mixing bowl, add all the chopped ingredients.. and add cumin and fennel seeds.. and salt..
- Grind dhal coarsely.. adding drops of water.. save 2 /3 tbsp of dhal without grinding.
- Now add the dhal into the other ingredients and mix well.. check salt
- Pre heat the oven for 350 degrees.. grease the baking tray with cooking spray and pat small rounds of mixture on it.. just like u pat vadai otherwise..
- Bake for 45 mins turning the other side every 15 minutes.. do use spray every time before turning it to the other side..
Tips & Tricks
1) Save some dhal without grinding to give a crunchy texture to the vadas.
2) If u can crush fennel/cumin seeds.. it brings out more distinct flavors..
3) If u want the vadas to be more crispy, bake for some more time..
3) If u want the vadas to be more crispy, bake for some more time..
