Pallipalayam Chicken

Well, it was such a long day.. and at the end we really had to pamper ourselves with spicy tasty meal.. We didn't want to make the usual stuff, so decided to browse to find something quick and tasty.. It was so cold this evening and something spicy would do real good.. Then it suddenly struct, I did bookmark something from cilantroonline.com.. Thank you dear for the recipe..It is such an easy dish with very little ingredients and very less labor.. don't we all like that..? It is a dry dish and definitely topped my charts.. :)

Ingredients

Chicken - 1 pound
Onions - 2 no. (big)
Red Chillies - 15 no.
Curry Leaves - 1 string
Ginger - 1 inch (finely chopped)
Garlic - 3 pods (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Pre-Preparation
  • Slice the onions very thinly
  • Chop ginger and garlic very finely
  • Break red chillies into halves .. and have the curry leaves ready

Preparation
  • In a hot pot , dust some spray... throw the sliced onions and saute until golden brown.
  • Add ginger red chilli , curry leaves, turmeric powder, ginger and garlic and keep sauting.. maybe for a min or until the raw smell goes off.
  • Add chicken pieces, and close the lid until it cooks..
  • Open the lid and let the water evaporate ..
  • Caramelize the chicken for a while..
  • And then enjoy ur meal. :)

Tips & Tricks

1) Actual recipe calls for shallots
2) Red chillies are the only source of spice and u may want to customize it to ur spice level..
3) Chicken Breast are generally used for this preparation.. but I always like them with bones ... juicy :)
