PIER MARKET @ PIER 39

Wow.. It feels nice to be back blogging..  I was not doing so well last week.. hence had to go out for the weekend.. It felt so nice to walk on the sides of Bay.. , I noticed the water to change its shade of blue every time I see it.. :) The weather was so pleasant... sunny with cool breeze..

My husband's colleague suggested us to visit the Ferry Building.. hence that was the destination this day.. We took a Bart to Embarcadero and walked few steps to a huge Farmers Market.. We reached there around in the afternoon, people were wrapping up with their final sale.. Just in time !

We glanced the Market for a few minutess and entered the Ferry Building.. To my surprise , it was a cluster of Restaurant's and Cafe's which served cuisine representing the diversity of San Francisco's best Chef's..  which I knew from the Food Channel..  there was a corner Ice Cream Shop which caught my attention.. actually more Gelato or Sorbet kind of shop.. Well, I am saving the best for last..

It was almost lunch time, and we decided to head to Fisherman's Wharf , Its a busy Northern Waterfront area of San Francisco.. and its not much a walk in a pleasant weather...  We were walking towards Pier 39.. This place is so full of life.. with so much Shopping and Food.. what a Combo .. :)

Now, that we were there..  The Restaurant were all so crowded.. and finally found our way into one of them.. PIER MARKET . Here comes the yummy part..

We ordered.. A) Fisherman's Platter B) Crab Cakes

As soon as we ordered, they served a free Bread BasketIt was made of sour dough and so hard to eat.. and personally I am not a huge fan of sour dough by itself..
We did not finish much of this basket..

Then came our entree... Crab Cakes

Well, we have been wanting to taste this , every time someone hype's about it..

I should say, it was definitely worth it.. It came like cutlets on a plate.. just melted in my mouth..

It had finely shredded crab meat with mild spices, which was not over powering.. and served perfectly with Remoulade Sauce..

Will I have this again..? Definitely Yes :)

And next is the Fisherman's Platter...
The Platter had almost every Fried Fish variety on the menu..
I am a huge foodie.. and all smiles on my face when I saw the Platter.. Look at the quantity :)

1) Fried Cod Fish - The long two fillets you see on the plate..  it tasted like a Fish Bhaji.. exactly battered and fried.. perfectly crisp on the outside and flaky fillet on the inside..

2) Calamari - Three rings on the plate... although I thought it was Shrimp initially..

3) Pop Corn Shrimp - Small Shrimps were crispy fried and so cute.. I would call this Shrimp Poppers.. like tiny fried balls, could keep tossing one after another.

4) And with some French Fries.. Next time, I am ordering Garlic Fries .. :)
Served with Coleslaw , Ketchup, Tartar Sauce and Lemon.
Will I have this again..? Maybe No.

And for Dessert, we were given two cookies... Cinnamon flavored , lightly spicy and sweet.. It was definitely good and the right crunch , you need after a heavy Fried meal..

It was too much of a Fried Food for our taste ....  Good to have tasted for once ! and definitely the quantity was so much , we carried a doggy bag at the end..

After a heavy meal , and a doggy bag in hand we walked back slowly with a heavy heart ... :) towards Ferry Building.. but then like I said before,

we saved the best for last.. GELATO !

I have been reading reviews about CIAO BELLA for a while now.. and now is the time for judgement.
like any other Ice Cream Shop.. This one had a long queue too.. but the reviews said , it was definitely worth waiting for..  lines vanished in no minutes and it was our turn to order.. The huge transparent container had two sections.. one was all Sorbet.. and the other section was Gelato.. and of course , we stood by Gelato.. Not that We don't like Sorbet but was not in the mood for it.. :)

We ordered, Dulce de Leche.. It had more like a caramelized flavor which was not so strong, so you could actually finish the entire scoop with no problem.. personally, I am more used to caramel be a topping to my Ice Cream

and, Turkish Pistachio.. well, firstly I got it in a cone.. I love eating wafer and Ice Cream together.. It had a mild Pista Flavor to it, rightly blended with the crunch of Pistachio when you need it. yummy till the end. :)

We were by the Bay for a while... Just cannot describe that... It felt so peaceful.. and light. :)

Well, Altogether.. We had a nice Day Out !

I LOVE SF..and would move up there in a heartbeat. I also love walking the farmers market and I think my favorite store in that area is a little charcuterie place which sells the best meats. Lots of great food places in SF but yes , you do have to get some deep fried stuff when your there!!
